India Biennale to open across Delhi on December 4, 2026

Purana Qila is scheduled to serve as the main hub for the India Biennale, a city-wide art, architecture and design festival due to open on December 4, 2026.

The 108-day programme is scheduled to run until March 21, 2027, using sites including Lodhi Gardens, the Qutub Minar complex, Agrasen ki Baoli, the Red Fort and Safdarjung Tomb. Galleries, embassy precincts and private cultural venues are also expected to take part.

The Ministry of Culture said it will provide on-site infrastructure, electricity and other basic requirements, while participating exhibitors will meet their own exhibition costs. Architecture and design firms, along with institutions including the National Gallery of Modern Art, Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, JSW Foundation and DAG, are among the participants.

This edition is themed *Tat Twam Asi*, or “You Are That”, with exhibitors asked to respond through the five senses. State and Union Territory pavilions, international exhibitors, a students’ biennale, workshops, conversations on art and technology, and daily performances are planned.

NGMA is also scheduled to host the India Pavilion exhibition shown at the Venice Biennale, featuring works by Alwar Balasubramaniam, Ranjani Shettar, Sumakshi Singh, Skarma Sonam Tashi and Asim Waqif.
