NHAI widens DME-NH-9 entry and exit near ABES College

The entry and exit lanes where NH-9 meets the Delhi-Meerut Expressway near ABES College in Ghaziabad have been widened to two lanes each.

NHAI has widened entry and exit lanes near ABES College in Ghaziabad to ease congestion at the NH-9 and Delhi-Meerut Expressway junction.

At the NH-9 and Delhi-Meerut Expressway junction near ABES College, drivers now have two entry lanes and two exit lanes instead of one each.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said it widened the approaches to ease bottlenecks for traffic from Ispat Nagar, an industrial cluster, and for commuters joining NH-9 and the expressway. According to the agency, the nearly 20km DME and NH-9 stretch through Ghaziabad carries between 60,000 and four lakh vehicles, with regular tailbacks.

NHAI said the additional lanes should improve movement on both sides of the expressway. It said residents of Sanya Vihar, Crossings Republik and Dundahera could benefit on one side of the corridor, along with people travelling towards Vijay Nagar on the other.

The agency added a lane on the Delhi-to-Dasna carriageway near IPEM Group of Institutions in March and created a U-turn near Dasna in January. It is also building a six-lane road from the Lal Kuan DME-NH-9 junction to bypass the congested Ghaziabad-Noida route and connect towards Noida airport via the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.
