Amit Aggarwal closes New Delhi fashion week with AM:IT collection

Designer Amit Aggarwal closed the Lakmē Fashion Week x FDCI finale in New Delhi with a collection built around the shift from office hours to an evening out.

Amit Aggarwal presented his AM:IT collection, On a Day Like Today, at the Lakmē Fashion Week x FDCI finale in New Delhi.

Aneet Padda took the runway as showstopper for Amit Aggarwal’s On a Day Like Today, presented at the Lakmē Fashion Week x FDCI grand finale in New Delhi on Sunday.

Created under Aggarwal’s prêt label AM:IT in collaboration with Lakmē 9to5, the collection followed the change in mood between a working day and a night out. Its looks combined utility and structure with expressive colour, craft and ornament.

Aggarwal drew from familiar Indian crafts, domestic objects and everyday gestures, translating them into contemporary silhouettes and unexpected materials. “For me, it is about finding the extraordinary in the familiar,” he said, adding that a person’s energy and expression can evolve even when they remain the same.

Padda said she connected with the palette and the clothes. “Once I wore the outfit, I just felt like myself,” she said.
