Supa San opens Japanese izakaya with karaoke on Bandra’s Linking Road

The Japanese restaurant’s new Bandra outpost on Linking Road pairs a 100-plus-dish menu with anime- and music-inspired cocktails.

Supa San has opened on Linking Road in Bandra with Japanese small plates, cocktails, DJ sets and a private karaoke room.

Supa San’s new Bandra address is on the 14th floor of Mansionz One on Linking Road, where Japanese small plates are served alongside vinyl records, DJ sets and an open-to-sky alfresco section.

The 110-seat restaurant is Supa San’s second Mumbai outlet after BKC. It has communal and more intimate seating, a retractable roof over the alfresco area, and a private karaoke room. A “Culture Shelf” displays vinyl, Japanese-inspired objects, artwork and memorabilia.

Chef Kripasha Miniya has designed the menu around grazing rather than a conventional main course. It has more than 100 dishes, nearly half of them vegetarian, including sushi, sashimi, gyoza, grilled plates and rice pots. The menu also aims to accommodate Jain dietary preferences.

Dishes include the green apple-and-avocado Midori No Mori tartare with nori chips, stuffed chicken wings, chicken gyoza, karaage and salmon sashimi. The Tori Kamameshi combines grilled chicken, mushrooms and carrot with rice in a reduced chicken-stock, soy, sake and mirin sauce.

The 22-drink NOW PLAYING menu draws on Japanese music, anime and artists. It is arranged in five sections, moving from lighter cocktails to spirit-forward pours.
