Bengaluru: Biren Ghose proposes Karnataka Creative Skills Mission

At the Bengaluru Skill Summit, AVGC-XR expert Biren Ghose proposed a mission to build creative talent, apprenticeships and locally developed intellectual property by 2030.

At the Bengaluru Skill Summit, Biren Ghose proposed 100 creative labs, 10,000 apprenticeships and 1,000 locally developed IPs by 2030.

Biren Ghose proposed that Karnataka build an “imagination workforce” alongside its established IT talent base at the three-day Bengaluru Skill Summit.

The Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality expert said creative talent and intellectual property should shape the state’s next phase of growth. He said the AVGC-XR sector has employed more than 25,000 artists and technicians since 2005.

Ghose called for a pool of 100,000 “orange-economy” professionals within a few years. He said imagination, judgement, taste and the ability to turn ideas into value would remain important as AI automates more code and content.

He said education and training systems often prioritise tool-based certificates, leaving students with skills tied to software that may already be outdated. He called instead for stronger foundational capabilities and more original Indian IP, rather than work focused on servicing global properties.

Ghose’s proposed Karnataka Creative Skills Mission, which he also called the Karnataka Imagination Mission, would seek to establish 100 creative labs linked to classrooms and creative industries by 2030. The proposal also targets 10,000 apprenticeships and 1,000 original IPs developed locally.
