Gurgaon: Shankar Chowk footbridge gets nod for Rapid Metro link

HMRTC has given in-principle approval to link a planned Shankar Chowk footbridge with the Cyber City Rapid Metro station walkway.

A proposed footbridge could link Cyber Hub, the Rapid Metro station and Udyog Vihar. DLF must submit drawings for final integration.

Office-goers using Cyber City Rapid Metro station may eventually be able to reach Udyog Vihar without stepping onto the traffic-heavy roads around Shankar Chowk.

Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation has given in-principle approval to connect DLF’s under-construction footbridge at the junction with the station’s existing walkway. The corporation has asked DLF to submit detailed drawings before it takes the integration forward.

The roughly 150-metre bridge is planned with access points near Cyber Hub, beneath the metro station on NH-8, and towards Udyog Vihar near Atrium Place. Lifts are proposed at the Cyber Hub and Atrium Place entrances.

The structure, grills and much of the fabrication are complete. Staircase work near Cyber Hub and canopy work are under way. DLF had planned to complete the project within two months, though GRAP-related construction restrictions could delay the work.

DLF must submit the detailed drawings for HMRTC to consider the final integration with the Rapid Metro walkway.
