September work at Dadar, Ghatkopar, Nallasopara, Virar and Vasai Road will support elevated passenger decks above platforms and tracks.

MRVC installed 35 girders at five Mumbai suburban stations in September for elevated passenger decks under MUTP III and IIIA.

Thirty-five heavy girders were installed at Dadar, Ghatkopar, Nallasopara, Virar and Vasai Road during September for elevated decks intended to distribute passenger movement at busy suburban stations.

At Nallasopara, workers installed 18 girders between September 11 and 14 for a deck measuring 29 metres wide and 176 metres long. Dadar received eight girders on September 28 and 29 for a 32-metre-wide, 200-metre-long concourse deck. At Ghatkopar, seven girders were installed for an eight-metre-wide western deck intended to ease interchange between Central Railway local services and Metro Line 1.

MRVC said the work required night-time power and traffic blocks to limit disruption to local services. Work also continued at Virar and Vasai Road.

Separately, MRVC signed an agreement with Integral Coach Factory on September 7 for 238 air-conditioned EMU rakes. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the last quarter of 2027, with the full fleet planned for integration by 2030.

The 29.6-km Panvel–Karjat new suburban corridor has reached 99% physical completion and is being prepared for inspection by the Commissioner of Railway Safety.
