Koramangala café hosts kintsugi workshop and miniature painting

Art Day Out at The Flake House Café brought groups of friends and first-time participants together for a Saturday of pottery repair and canvas painting.

Art Day Out at The Flake House Café in Koramangala featured a kintsugi workshop and miniature canvas painting for friends and first-time attendees.

At The Flake House Café in Koramangala, 25-year-old HR professional Simran Singh spent a Saturday repairing pottery, painting and talking with other participants at Art Day Out.

The gathering centred on kintsugi, the Japanese practice of mending broken pottery with gold. Small World founder Saurav Arya led the workshop, while participants also painted miniature canvases and took their creations home.

Many attended with friends, while others joined for the first time. Singh said the session gave her a break from her usual routine and a chance to try something different. Manish M M, 26, a regional marketing manager, said canvas painting was his first experience at an event of this kind and that the informal setting made it easier to meet new people.

Arya said the workshop drew more Gen Z participants than millennials. Participants spent the afternoon making pottery repairs and paintings, with time for conversation between activities.
