Bandra West café cat found, adopted after Chaayos relocation

The cat that lived around Chaayos’ Turner Road café in Bandra West has been found and adopted by Purnima Motwani and her family.

Chaayos said a staff member had relocated the animal and that it accepted responsibility for the move. The café chain said it sent a 20-member team to search for the cat.

Humanity World Foundation said it located the cat on Tuesday. Motwani said her friend Denzil, who runs a nearby garage, had first brought the cat back outside the café after it was moved. The cat remained there for two days before disappearing on Sunday morning, she said.

Motwani said she approached the café after the cat went missing and then contacted animal-welfare organisations. Chaayos said it is revising staff training and protocols for responding to community animals.

The cat is now in Motwani’s care.
