Gurgaon’s civic body has asked NHAI to maintain the Delhi-Jaipur Highway’s roadsides, greenery and cleanliness as it steps up dust-control measures.
MCG has asked agencies to clean and repair roads under their control, remove waste and act against illegal construction debris dumping.
MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya has asked NHAI to keep the Delhi-Jaipur Highway clean, maintain roadside greenery and prevent illegal dumping of construction and demolition (C&D) waste.
At an inter-departmental pollution-control meeting, Dahiya told officials from NHAI, GMDA, PWD, HSIIDC and the traffic police that each agency must maintain the roads and infrastructure under its jurisdiction. He sought FIRs and legal action against people and private agencies found dumping C&D waste along the highway.
NHAI representatives said the agency would support MCG’s cleanliness and dust-mitigation work, including identifying people or agencies responsible for illegal dumping and imposing penalties for non-compliance.
The meeting assigned HSIIDC road-repair and improvement work in Udyog Vihar. GMDA said it was converting unpaved sections of Southern Peripheral Road into additional carriageways, repairing potholes and kerbs, restoring footpaths, developing greenbelts, and clearing soil, silt and debris from road edges.
Officials said sweeping alone would not control road dust. Departments were asked to ensure roads are fully paved and waste is lifted and disposed of regularly. Traffic police were also asked to reduce avoidable congestion.
