Students and residents spent the morning clearing weeds, caring for saplings and collecting waste at sites in Banashankari, Kasturinagar and Jayanagar.

Around 250 volunteers joined a green drive across three Bengaluru public spaces as part of Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations. The work included weed clearance and plantation at 10th Block Central Park, sapling care near Kasturinagar Lake, and plogging and waste-management activities at MES Jayanagar playground.

Around 250 students and residents worked in neighbourhood green spaces across Bengaluru during Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations, with activity centred on Banashankari, Kasturinagar and Jayanagar.

At 10th Block Central Park in Banashankari, volunteers from Adamaya Chethana cleared weeds, planted saplings and tended existing plants between 9am and 11.30am. Students from Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Jyothi Institute of Technology and JSS were among those taking part.

Other volunteers cared for saplings at Kasturinagar Lake. K. Ramanatha Rao of the Kasturinagar Welfare Association described the waterbody as about 200 years old and said restoration efforts were needed because it sits in the heart of the city.

At MES Jayanagar playground, the group combined a plogging drive with a waste-management session. Charan Teja, a volunteering coordinator with Team Social Spotlight, said many of the college students were volunteering for the first time.

The organisers said residents can register for future volunteering activities through the #IamBengaluru Volunteer for Parks initiative.
