Delhi will bar non-BS VI vehicles from entering the city from November 1 to January 31, with exemptions for CNG, electric and emergency vehicles.

Delhi will restrict entry of non-BS VI vehicles from November 1 to January 31 and halt dust-generating construction work, subject to limited exemptions.

Non-BS VI vehicles cannot enter Delhi from November 1 to January 31 under the city’s winter pollution-control measures.

CNG and electric vehicles are exempt, as are ambulances, fire tenders, police vehicles and other notified categories. The restriction applies to vehicles entering Delhi.

The government will use special enforcement teams, AI-enabled surveillance and automatic number-plate recognition cameras to identify violations. It will generate e-challans automatically for vehicles found violating the restrictions.

Dust-generating outdoor construction and demolition work will also stop during the three-month period. Essential public infrastructure projects may continue if they meet prescribed conditions. Unauthorised construction can draw stop-work notices and environmental compensation penalties.

Drivers approaching Delhi from neighbouring cities should check whether their vehicle meets Bharat Stage VI norms before travelling. The restrictions are scheduled to remain in force until January 31.
