CSMIA will suspend flight operations from 11am to 5pm on November 19 for scheduled post-monsoon runway maintenance.
Mumbai International Airport Limited said both of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport’s runways will be non-operational for six hours on November 19. Airlines have been given advance notice to retime or reschedule flights scheduled during the closure window.
Passengers flying through Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on November 19 should check their flight timings: both runways will close from 11am to 5pm for annual post-monsoon maintenance.
Mumbai International Airport Limited said crews will work on runway 09/27 and runway 14/32 during the six-hour window. The programme includes surface repairs, friction testing, inspection of runway lighting and other electrical systems, drainage clearance, and renewed runway markings.
The work is intended to address wear from the monsoon and aircraft operations on wet surfaces. Teams will also assess runway texture, remove rubber deposits left by landing gear and patch small fissures.
The airport operator said it began coordinating with airlines, cargo operators and ground-handling agencies six months ahead of the closure. A Notice to Airmen has been issued, and flights originally scheduled in the affected period have been retimed or rescheduled. Travellers with departures or arrivals between 11am and 5pm should confirm their revised schedule directly with their airline.
CSMIA also carries out a pre-monsoon maintenance shutdown; this year’s was held on May 7.
