Delhi to regulate traffic around India Gate for Run for Unity on October 31

Traffic around the C-Hexagon and nearby central Delhi junctions will face diversions from 3.30am to about 9am on Saturday, October 31.

The Run for Unity will begin at Gate No. 1 of Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium and finish at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose statue. Delhi Traffic Police said restrictions and diversions will depend on participant movement and congestion at key crossings.

A Run for Unity route from Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium to the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose statue will bring traffic restrictions to central Delhi from 3.30am to about 9am on October 31.

The run, being held for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 151st birth anniversary, will start at Gate No. 1 of the stadium near India Gate. Participants will move towards the C-Hexagon, turn right onto the radial road opposite Shahjahan Road, and finish at the statue.

Delhi Traffic Police said movement towards the C-Hexagon may be regulated or diverted at Bhagwan Dass Road, Purana Quila Road and Mathura Road, Sher Shah Road and Mathura Road, Dr Zakir Hussain Marg and Subramaniam Bharti Marg, and Pandara Road and Subramaniam Bharti Marg. Restrictions may also affect Q-Point, the Mansingh Road and Jaswant Singh Road roundabouts, Firoz Shah Road-KG Marg, and Mandi House-Copernicus Marg.

Cross-traffic will be allowed where participant density permits. Emergency vehicles will receive uninterrupted passage. Motorists have been asked to avoid roadside and unauthorised parking near the venue, follow diversion signs, and allow extra time for journeys. Police have also advised avoiding unnecessary travel towards Astha Kunj Park, Nehru Place and adjoining roads during the programme.
