Armaan Malik, in Bengaluru for a private performance, spoke about Kannada music, AI tools and being selective about live shows.
Armaan Malik was in Bengaluru for a private performance and spoke about the Kannada songs in his catalogue alongside his Hindi releases.
The singer, whose Kannada tracks include *Sariyaagi*, *Ondu Malebillu* and *Neenaade Naa*, said he does not speak the language but feels its melodies suit his voice. He named Kannada, Hindi and Telugu as the three languages closest to his work, and said Bengaluru listeners have responded to songs in each.
Malik has also sung the Kannada version of *Mangal Rang* for *Ramayana*, collaborating again with AR Rahman. He said he does not let anticipated public reaction determine whether he takes on a project, particularly when working with Rahman.
On AI, Malik said independent musicians could use it to brainstorm or begin an idea when studio access and production costs are barriers. But he drew a boundary at fully AI-generated music: “It has to be used within limits, as a tool that enhances what you do.”
He said he has become more selective about live shows to protect his voice. He also said his marriage to Aashna Shroff last year has influenced the love songs he wants to write.
