Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has asked officials to prepare a permanent plan for traffic, pedestrian access and public amenities at Central Silk Board Junction.

Krishna Byre Gowda asked officials to prepare a permanent plan for traffic, pedestrian access, public amenities and drainage at Silk Board Junction.

Central Silk Board Junction, where the Metro, flyover, Outer Ring Road and NHAI elevated road meet, may be redesigned to improve traffic movement and pedestrian access.

During an inspection on Saturday, Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda asked Greater Bengaluru Authority officials to prepare a permanent development plan and earmark funds for the work. He also launched the Ward One campaign by beginning the painting of flyover pillars at the junction.

The proposed plan includes seating and recreational facilities beneath the flyover, a throwball court and possible table-tennis facilities. It also includes a public toilet, improved footpaths, a steel grid over the stormwater drain and a walkway alongside it.

Gowda asked BWSSB officials to address sewage flowing into the stormwater drain. He also asked officials to plan a new drain from Silk Board Junction towards HSR Layout to reduce flooding during heavy rain and coordinate the work with the ongoing white-topping project.

The Ward One campaign will cover major junctions and ward-level infrastructure across 43 wards under Bengaluru’s five city corporations.
