Sector 102 residents say 1.7km road has been partly unlit since 2024

Residents of Sectors 102 and 102A say 15 to 20 poles removed during 2024 road work have not been reinstalled.

Residents say a 1.7km road serving Sectors 102 and 102A has remained partly unlit since poles were removed during 2024 work.

About 15 to 20 streetlight poles removed during 2024 road work on a 1.7km stretch serving Gurugram’s Sectors 102 and 102A have not been reinstalled, residents say.

The road serves Shapoorji Pallonji Joyville, Adani Oyster, Emaar Imperial Gardens and BPTP Amstoria, as well as Dhankot and Khedki Majra villages. Residents say poorly lit sections make travel difficult for motorists and pedestrians, particularly near housing societies and schools.

Sunil Sareen, a Sector 102 resident and deputy convenor of the Dwarka Expressway Gurugram Development Association, said the missing lights create a security concern. Another resident, Mukesh Gupta, said a transformer positioned in the middle of the road obstructs traffic and could lead to accidents.

Residents say uncertainty over agency roles has delayed a solution. GMDA built the road, HSVP maintains existing streetlights, and DHBVN supplies power.

Gyan Chand Sharma, an assistant sub-divisional engineer at HSVP, said some sections have lights but a small part remains inadequately lit. He said HSVP is handing over Sectors 102 and 102A to the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram and cannot install new streetlights.

Residents have sought a joint inspection by the agencies and restoration of the missing poles.
