Delhi Airport trials Digi Yatra for international e-passport flyers

Eligible Indian e-passport holders on selected Air India and IndiGo international flights can use Digi Yatra at enabled Delhi Airport points in November and December.

Delhi Airport is among seven airports testing Digi Yatra for eligible Indian e-passport holders on selected international flights in November and December.

Indian nationals with e-passports flying on selected Air India or IndiGo international services from Delhi Airport can use Digi Yatra during its November-December international trial.

The facility is available at enabled terminal entry points, Security Hold Areas and boarding gates. It does not replace travel documents, airline checks or immigration procedures; passengers must still complete each of those formalities.

Travellers must create an e-passport-based Verifiable Credential in the Digi Yatra app. The process involves scanning the passport’s machine-readable zone, reading its embedded chip through NFC on a compatible phone, taking a selfie and verifying the details. The credential is stored in the app wallet on the passenger’s device.

Delhi is one of seven airports in the trial, alongside Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, Mumbai, Chennai and Amritsar. Digi Yatra plans to use feedback from the two-month exercise to prepare for a wider international rollout in 2027.
