The Bengaluru North City Corporation says bulk waste placed on domestic auto-tippers is overloading vehicles and disrupting door-to-door collection routes.
Residents can report suspected bulk-waste violations during Bengaluru North City Corporation’s Tuesday solid-waste phone-in.
Bengaluru North City Corporation has asked residents to report bulk waste generators that send waste through domestic door-to-door collection vehicles rather than authorised bulk-waste transporters.
Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar said the practice overloads auto-tippers, requiring extra unloading trips and interrupting collection from homes on their assigned routes. Residents can report suspected cases during the corporation’s Tuesday solid-waste phone-in programme on 9480685705, 080-22975936 or 080-23636671.
The corporation has identified 1,299 bulk waste generators in its area. These include premises producing more than 100 kg of waste a day, apartments with more than 100 units, high-water-use properties and large sites. Of those identified, 182 are registered with the Central Pollution Control Board and 48 have on-site processing facilities.
Each ward has two mustering points for sanitation workers and collection vehicles, which resident welfare associations have been asked to monitor. QR codes posted on the corporation’s social-media handles list contact details for the auto-tipper driver and supervisor assigned to each block.
Four Prahari vehicles fitted with dashcams are being used to monitor stretches identified by the corporation as prone to dumping.
