IIMB’s Dorabji Tata School of Undergraduate Studies has enrolled 80 students in its first Data Science and Economics BSc (Honours) programmes.
Eighty students have joined the first BSc (Honours) programmes in Data Science and Economics at IIMB’s Dorabji Tata School of Undergraduate Studies, which opened in September 2026.
The inaugural cohort includes Bengaluru swimmer Athish Kiran Olety, 18, who represented India at the ISF U-15 World School Games in Belgrade in 2021. Olety chose the Data Science programme for its mix of technology, business, economics and entrepreneurship.
Other students in the cohort have experience in astronomy, CubeSat design, student leadership, roller hockey, handball and waste-management work. Harsh Yadav, an Economics student from a farming family in Ghazipur, said his school waste-management club provided clothing to 250 people and enabled the upcycling of 900 kg of waste.
Jaagruthi Khaspa, who received financial aid, said the support had eased the financial burden on her mother, a single parent. She plans to explore how data and economics can support sustainable agriculture and affordable healthy choices.
IIMB offers 100% financial aid to undergraduate students who meet its eligibility criteria.
