12 dogs and a cat found in Doddakannelli vet-clinic raid

Twelve dogs and a cat were found at Primecare Vet Hospital in Doddakannelli near Bellandur when GBA officials and police raided the clinic on September 8.

The action followed allegations from an animal rescue group and a whistleblower, who submitted purported video evidence. The group alleged that street dogs had been picked up for unauthorised orthopaedic procedures, and that some animals were injured or died after treatment. These claims are yet to be established by investigators.

Four street dogs requiring immediate medical attention were moved to another veterinary facility. Rescuers said six indie dogs at the premises needed treatment, while three others were found before their leg injuries became irreversible. The cat was also moved after its owner could not be reached; some other pet owners were asked to collect their animals.

Police questioned two doctors. Investigators are expected to examine the animals, medical records and CCTV footage to determine whether offences were committed. Rescuers have asked people with information or evidence to share it with the authorities rather than intervene directly.
