Palam Vihar: 12 gates and walls removed from internal roads

Twelve gates and walls built across internal roads in Palam Vihar’s C and D blocks were removed in an enforcement drive following complaints that common areas were becoming inaccessible.

District Town Planner (Enforcement) Amit Madholia said the structures obstructed vehicle movement and could restrict emergency access. The department said it acted on complaints raised during a samadhan shivir and removed the gates and walls from the licensed residential colony, which falls under Palam Vihar police station jurisdiction.

At Mahindra Aura, a group housing colony in Sector 110A, the department also removed construction it said was outside the approved layout plan. The site falls under Bajghera police station.

One Palam Vihar resident welcomed the reopening of the internal roads. Other residents objected during the drive and exchanged words with officials. A resident opposing the demolition said the gates had been installed for residents’ “security and convenience” and voiced concern after their removal.

Officials said internal roads in licensed colonies cannot be blocked or appropriated through unauthorised structures. They said enforcement action over violations of approved plans would continue through the prescribed legal process.
