₹1,400 crore Gurugram Metro Phase 2 tender awaits Haryana approval

A ₹1,400 crore tender for tracks and stations on Gurugram Metro Phase 2 is awaiting Haryana government approval.

Gurugram Metro Rail Limited said the World Bank cleared the civil-construction tender in June. GMRL and Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited have since vetted it. The package excludes signalling, electrical and design work.

The planned 13km corridor has 14 stations. Thirteen are planned at Sector 7, Sector 4, Sector 5, Ashok Vihar, Sector 3, Bajghera Road, Palam Vihar Extension, Palam Vihar, Sector 23A, Sector 22, Udyog Vihar Phase 4, Udyog Vihar Phase 5 and Cyber City. The 14th station is planned on a spur towards Gurugram railway station.

The corridor is planned to interchange with the Rapid Metro and Regional Rapid Transit System. Officials said the project’s estimated cost has risen from ₹5,452 crore to more than ₹10,000 crore, and GMRL has approached a German development bank for additional funding.

A GMRL official said the tender is expected to receive approval soon.
