Welcome, Delhi: 15-year-old dies after ceiling collapses at home

A 15-year-old boy was declared brought dead at Kailash Deepak Hospital in Anand Vihar after a section of ceiling fell on him while he slept at his home in Welcome, northeast Delhi.

His twin brother, who was sleeping in the same room, sustained minor injuries in the collapse at about 5am, police said. Their family took both boys to hospital, and Welcome police station received information at about 7am.

Police sent the boy’s body to GTB Hospital for a postmortem examination. Police and forensic teams inspected the house and collected evidence as they examine the condition of the ceiling and the circumstances of the collapse.

During the inquiry, police said they recovered five live .315-bore cartridges. They are investigating how the ammunition came to be at the house. Police have registered a case.
