180 Gurgaon properties receive DTCP notices during colony survey

At least 180 properties in Gurgaon’s licensed colonies have received notices over alleged unauthorised construction and misuse of residential buildings, as the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) steps up inspections across the city.

Nine teams have been assigned to survey colonies by August 15 and submit daily reports. They will compare construction with sanctioned building plans, identify alleged unauthorised changes in a property’s use and mark potential violations on the latest approved layout plans for each colony.

The teams will cover neighbourhoods including Sushant Lok, South City, Palam Vihar, Vatika areas, Nirvana Country, Rosewood City and Mayfield Garden, along with sectors 1 to 115. A ninth team will compile survey lists, coordinate notices and track enforcement.

The exercise follows Supreme Court directions. Town planner Amit Khatri has asked enforcement officials in Gurgaon and Faridabad to identify potential violations in licensed colonies. Property owners may receive notices under applicable rules, and sealing or demolition may follow depending on the alleged violation and the response to the notice. DTCP has been asked to prepare a draft affidavit on action taken by September 7.
