NIFT Mumbai: 315 students graduate at joint convocation in Delhi

NIFT Mumbai said 315 of its graduating students received 10 gold medals, 31 graduation show awards and 16 meritorious awards at the Joint Convocation 2026 in New Delhi.

The August 31 ceremony at Yashobhoomi brought together graduates from NIFT’s 18 campuses. President Droupadi Murmu, the chief guest, asked students entering fashion, textile and creative industries to remain globally competitive while staying connected to India’s cultural heritage and values.

Murmu referred to NIFT’s Craft Cluster Initiative, which links weavers and artisans with contemporary design and markets. She urged graduates to use local materials, find value in textile waste and support traditional artisans through innovation and inclusive growth.

Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh told the graduates to dream big and work hard. Textiles Secretary Neelam Shami Rao encouraged them to keep upgrading their skills as opportunities emerge across the sector.

NIFT Director General Tanu Kashyap administered the pledge and symbolically conferred degrees at the central event. The graduates later received their degrees in campus-wise ceremonies attended by their academic communities.
