36 mm rain in an hour slows Gurugram traffic from Sarhaul Border to Rajiv Chowk

Thirty-six millimetres of rain in one hour left vehicles crawling from Sarhaul Border to Rajiv Chowk and Subhash Chowk on Saturday afternoon.

Waterlogging was reported at Rajiv Chowk, Sohna Road, Golf Course Extension Road, Udyog Vihar and around Sector 14. On Udyog Vihar Phase 3 and Old Delhi-Gurugram Road, water collected in potholes, making the stretch particularly difficult for two- and three-wheeler riders.

Traffic police deployed personnel at major junctions and waterlogged locations to manage diversions and ease congestion. Motorists travelling from Gurugram towards Delhi have been advised to take a U-turn at IFFCO Chowk and enter through the Aya Nagar border. Travellers heading to the airport have been asked to use the Dwarka Expressway.

Municipal Corporation of Gurugram and district administration teams are using suction pumps to drain affected roads. The district administration has asked residents to avoid unnecessary travel, waterlogged roads, underpasses and low-lying areas. The IMD has forecast intermittent rain in Gurugram and nearby areas for the next 24 to 48 hours.
