Silver Oaks, DLF-1: 700 families ration water after supply disruption

Around 700 families at Silver Oaks in DLF-1 have been rationing water for three days as GMDA supply remains disrupted.

Water flowed for a few hours around 2am on Friday, residents said, but stopped again later in the morning. The society’s underground tank level has fallen, affecting the pumps that serve homes. Residents have been using tanker water for toilets, utensils and other essential needs, while buying packaged water separately for drinking.

GMDA said supply was first affected by tripping at the Basai water treatment plant. A leak in a 1,300mm pipeline near Basai was detected on Wednesday and repaired on Thursday night.

The RWA said it could arrange only limited tanker supply because providers were already serving other affected residential areas. It is exploring three more tankers, estimated to cost nearly Rs 30,000 a day, and has asked residents to postpone clothes washing and other non-essential water use.
