72 overage vehicles impounded in Noida and Ghaziabad in three days

Transport officials impounded 40 vehicles in Gautam Budh Nagar and 32 in Ghaziabad over three days for exceeding NCR age limits.

Diesel vehicles more than 10 years old and petrol vehicles more than 15 years old are not permitted to ply on NCR roads. Amit Rajan Rai, assistant regional transport officer (enforcement), said teams had been formed for Ghaziabad, Noida, Bulandshahr and Hapur. Officials sent the 32 vehicles impounded in Ghaziabad to a registered vehicle-scrapping facility.

In Gautam Budh Nagar, assistant regional transport officer Udit Narayan Pandey said officials impounded 40 vehicles. “The drive will continue,” he said.

The department also met registered scrapping-facility operators, asking them to follow prescribed rules, meet timelines and maintain complete records. Officials said some owners who had moved outside Noida had scrapped vehicles locally without completing required documentation, leaving registration records outdated. They asked owners to check their vehicle age and registration details and use authorised scrapping centres.
