AAP says Kondli MLA Kuldeep Kumar was taken from home; Delhi Police yet to respond

Kuldeep Kumar, AAP’s MLA from Kondli in East Delhi, was allegedly taken from his home around 4 a.m. on Tuesday by Delhi Police personnel, his party said.

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal alleged that police personnel broke CCTV cameras at Kumar’s residence and took the DVR. Delhi unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj said about 20 plain-clothes personnel came to the house. The MLA’s location had not been publicly confirmed, and Delhi Police had not responded to the allegations.

AAP leaders linked the alleged action to Kumar’s support for sanitation workers protesting over the killing of Anil, an on-duty sanitation worker in Kalyanpuri. Hundreds of sanitation workers and auto-tipper drivers gathered at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital on Monday and did not allow Anil’s body to be taken from the mortuary for last rites.

The workers have sought ₹1 crore compensation for Anil’s family and a permanent government job for one family member. AAP leader Atishi said the party would move a habeas corpus petition in the Delhi High Court seeking details of Kumar’s whereabouts.
