AAP seeks L-G meeting over bicycle, medicine and rice procurement allegations

AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha has written to Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu, seeking an appointment for a delegation of Opposition MLAs led by party’s Delhi unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj.

Jha said the delegation wants to submit information and documents relating to alleged irregularities in the procurement of bicycles, medicines and rice, and has requested a fair and thorough investigation. He said the party wanted the facts to be examined and action taken against anyone found responsible.

The rice allegations had earlier disrupted proceedings in the Delhi Assembly. On August 12, the BJP rejected the allegations as baseless, saying the AAP was rattled by the government’s welfare schemes.

The L-G has been asked to grant the Opposition delegation an appointment at the earliest. No meeting date has been announced.
