Gurugram: 50 construction sites face dust-control inspections

Around 50 construction and demolition sites in southern Gurugram face ground inspections after failing to meet dust-control requirements by September 17.

The Haryana State Pollution Control Board issued show-cause notices to more than 400 sites on September 10. The notices cited missing pan-tilt-zoom cameras and air-quality sensors, broken video links, camera blind spots around excavation and demolition work, and missing self-audit and compliance documents.

Projects on plots of 500 square metres or more must register on the state dust-mitigation portal. They must install geo-fenced cameras and PM2.5 and PM10 sensors, with live feeds linked to the state pollution portal and the Commission for Air Quality Management’s control centre in Delhi.

HSPCB said roughly 350 sites began complying after the notices. Teams will inspect the remaining sites before deciding on action, which can include work stoppages, sealing, utility disconnection and environmental compensation.
