Mumbai: Adani Electricity issues Dahi Handi safety checklist

Dahi Handi organisers in Adani Electricity Mumbai’s licence area have been asked to keep Handis, stages and human-pyramid zones away from overhead power lines during the coming celebrations.

The utility said its teams met organisers and electrical contractors on September 4 to share safety guidance for pandals. It asked them to obtain metered temporary connections for lights, sound systems and decorations, and to have wiring done by licensed contractors.

The company advised the use of ISI-marked cables with MCB and RCCB protection, along with earthing for metal frames, trusses, scaffolding and poles. Meter boxes and distribution boards should be locked, covered, raised above ground and kept beyond public reach.

Organisers were told not to tie ropes, banners or other structures to electric or streetlight poles, tap power directly from street lines, or place stages and hoardings near overhead lines. Water hoses and sprays should stay away from electrical points and feeder pillars.
