Adidas confirms role cuts at Gurgaon technology hub

Adidas has confirmed role cuts at its India Technology Hub in Gurgaon, after employees were informed at a town hall on September 15.

The company did not disclose the number of jobs being eliminated. Reports have put the figure at 300 to 350 roles, close to half of the hub’s roughly 700-member workforce. Software engineers, data scientists and data engineers are expected to be among those affected.

Employees have reportedly been divided into two groups. One group received exit letters on September 15; another will remain in their roles until December 15 to hand over responsibilities to colleagues who stay.

Adidas said it had made the “difficult decision” as part of an effort to align its operating model with changing business needs. It said the restructuring would simplify parts of the organisation, build critical capabilities and support long-term growth, adding that it would provide affected employees with transition assistance.

The Gurgaon hub opened in 2021 to recruit and develop engineering and technology talent for Adidas products. The company said the hub would continue to have a role in its growth, innovation and digital-transformation plans.
