Gurgaon rain: Mother carries son through Sector 46 waterlogging

Namisha Parihar parked her car and carried her six-year-old son on her shoulders for about 500 metres through knee-deep water in Sector 46 on Monday. The Malibu Towne resident had picked him up from daycare around 4.30pm; a trip that usually takes 10 minutes took nearly two hours.

Residents across Gurgaon said water remained on roads after the rain stopped, slowing traffic and leaving school buses stuck. Schoolteacher Shalini Kulshrestha said her 17km journey after school took nearly 4.5 hours. Younger children cried in the bus, she said, while teachers used biscuits and activities to keep them calm. Some children reached home around 8pm.

Vaibhav Chauhan, who lives in CHD Avenue 71, said he took 1.5 hours to travel roughly 1km on Sohna Road. Priyanka Srivastava, from Sector 70A, said her daughter’s school bus was stranded near Subhash Chowk and that she called 112 five times while seeking help.
