Bengaluru: Technician reports scooter, phone missing after crash

Ajay, a 21-year-old electronics technician, told police that his aunt’s grey Honda Dio scooter and his mobile phone were missing after he fell on a wet road in Annapoorneshwarinagar.

Ajay said he was returning home after dinner at about 12.45am on August 20 when the scooter skidded near a salon. He told police that two people came to help, lifted the scooter and moved him to the roadside before he lost consciousness. He said he had kept his phone in the scooter’s storage box to protect it from the rain.

Ajay said he walked home because he did not have his phone to contact family or friends. He and his family searched the area the following morning but did not find the scooter or phone. He filed a police complaint on August 26.

The 2018 Honda Dio, registration KA-02-JU-1827, is valued at about Rs 50,000. Police said Ajay was not wearing a helmet and nearby CCTV footage was unclear, showing only him riding the scooter. Police have registered a theft case under Section 303 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and are examining the matter.
