Ananya Sheth wins U-13 match at Goregaon badminton tournament

Ananya Sheth won her Girls’ U-13 round-of-64 match at Goregaon Sports Club on Wednesday, beating Sayesha Sawant 13-15, 15-13, 15-9 in the Mumbai Suburban District Championship and Selection Tournament 2026.

Sheth, who plays for Goregaon Sports Club, lost the opening game before winning the next two to advance. Adaya Singh also needed three games to get past Anvitha Korati, winning 14-15, 15-14, 15-14.

Other Girls’ U-13 players to progress included Shanaya Bansal, Rida Siddiqui and Swara Sawant. Bansal beat Kashvi Maheshwari 15-11, 15-14; Siddiqui defeated Srishti Swaminathan 15-12, 15-9; and Swara Sawant beat Asmi Tendulkar 15-12, 15-13.

In the Boys’ U-13 round of 64, Viraaj Singh, Nirvaan Shah and Chittesh Razdan recorded straight-game wins. Goregaon Sports Club is organising the tournament with the Badminton Association for Mumbai Upnagar.
