Andheri dog owner booked after 11-year-old bitten at residential complex

An 11-year-old boy was bitten on his right thigh after a pet dog allegedly chased him at a residential complex in Andheri East on August 29, police said.

The boy’s father said the family had come downstairs at about 3 pm and that the child had returned home. At about 3.25 pm, his wife called to say their son had been bitten. He said he found the boy bleeding and took him to Nanavati Hospital, where he received treatment and vaccination.

Police said the boy told his father that a housekeeping worker at the complex was handling the dog when it got out of his control, chased the child and bit him.

The father filed a complaint against the dog’s owner and the housekeeping worker, alleging that they had not properly controlled the animal. He also alleged that residents had previously raised concerns about the dog running towards people and young children.

Andheri police have booked the 31-year-old dog owner in connection with the complaint. A police officer said the dog was not muzzled during walks.
