Gurgaon rain: Waterlogging slows traffic on major roads

Around 70 mm of rain had fallen in Gurgaon by 1.30 pm on Monday, leaving vehicles stuck near Rajiv Chowk and slowing traffic across several main corridors.

Waterlogging was reported at Narsinghpur, Hero Honda Chowk, Rajiv Chowk and IFFCO Chowk, as well as in parts of old Gurgaon. School buses and ambulances were caught in waterlogged traffic on Sohna Road, while a section of the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway near Cyber Hub, opposite Gateway Tower Metro station, was submerged.

Waterlogging was also reported on Sheetla Mata Road, Railway Road, Sector 5, Old Delhi Road, Mehrauli Road, Basai Road and at Naharpur underpass. Sadar Bazar and Gurdwara Road saw traffic disruption.

Traffic police were deployed at Sirhaul border, Rajiv Chowk and Narsinghpur. Civic teams inspected flood-prone locations and were directed to keep pumping arrangements active and clear accumulated water.

The district administration has advised corporate offices, government and private schools, and institutions to work from home on Tuesday, citing the prospect of continued waterlogging and congestion.
