Bengaluru’s Kimbho Sanskrit Riders Club meets at Cubbon Park

Every other weekend, members of Bengaluru’s Kimbho Sanskrit Riders Club gather at Cubbon Park to introduce themselves, learn verbs and numbers, and build sentences in Sanskrit.

Samashti Gubbi started the club in 2024. It also organises monthly rides and outings, where members speak Sanskrit and help newcomers learn the basics. Past trips have included temple visits, cruises in Goa, bungee-jumping venues and casinos.

Most participants are between 20 and 40. The Cubbon Park sessions are free, while members pay for their own travel on longer trips. The name “Kimbho” loosely translates as “what’s up?”, offering a casual entry point to a language often taught through formal study.

Kimbho is developing a contemporary Sanskrit film titled *Mitram*. Gubbi said the project is intended to involve club members as actors, writers, singers and filmmakers.
