Artists and industry representatives at Spotify’s Loud & Clear launch in Delhi discussed streaming, music discovery and independent careers.

Aditya Rikhari recalled spotting listeners in South Africa while reviewing data for his independent music. “Just put your music out,” he told aspiring musicians at a Delhi event on streaming and the changing music business.

Spotify’s first Loud & Clear report launch in Delhi brought together artists, industry representatives and policymakers to discuss discovery, royalties and the growing reach of music made outside film soundtracks. Amarjit Singh Batra, the company’s India managing director, said personalisation, playlists and recommendations were helping listeners discover artists and languages they may not otherwise seek out.

Dhruvank Vaidya, Spotify India’s head of music and podcasts, said the platform had expanded the reach of regional-language performers, including Haryana duo Banjaare and Thiruvananthapuram artist Aksomaniac. He said half of Spotify’s year-end top 10 in India last year came from outside film soundtracks.

Punjabi artist Simran Choudhary said streaming had allowed artists to build direct relationships with listeners without waiting for a major label. Lyricist Prasoon Joshi performed lines from “Maa” from *Taare Zameen Par* during the evening.
