Australian High Commissioner Philip Green takes Shatabdi from New Delhi to Chandigarh

Australian High Commissioner Philip Green travelled on the Shatabdi Express from New Delhi to Chandigarh, speaking with fellow passengers during the journey.

In a video shared by the Australian High Commission, Green described rail travel as a way to meet people and talk. “Invariably, we talk about cricket,” he said, adding that families sometimes offered him food during the journey.

Green linked the trip to Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s remarks during his India visit earlier this year. Albanese recalled backpacking in India in 1991 and said travelling by bus or train was a way to understand the country firsthand.

The Shatabdi service connects New Delhi and Chandigarh. Green said he was looking ahead to opportunities in Punjab and Haryana and to strengthening India-Australia ties there.
