Ayanagar logs 101.9mm rain as waterlogging slows Delhi traffic

Ayanagar received 101.9mm of rain in the 24 hours ending 8.30am on August 25, as heavy early-morning showers left roads waterlogged across Delhi and slowed traffic.

The Ridge recorded 100.4mm, while Safdarjung logged 99.1mm and Lodhi Road 98.3mm. Palam received 68mm till 8am.

Water accumulated on Ashoka Road, Raisina Road, Parliament Street, Baba Kharak Singh Marg and around Connaught Place. Similar conditions were reported near RML Hospital, the Supreme Court and AIIMS, where riders were seen pulling vehicles through inundated stretches. ITO, Moti Bagh, Kamla Nagar and Karol Bagh also reported waterlogging.

The rain brought temperatures down. Safdarjung’s minimum was 23.5°C, 2.9 degrees below normal, while Palam recorded 21.8°C, 4.3 degrees below normal. At 9am, Delhi’s air quality index stood at 100, within the satisfactory category.
