Delhi weather diverts 15 flights from IGIA

Fifteen flights were diverted from Indira Gandhi International Airport on Monday as weather disrupted arrivals and departures in Delhi.

An airport official said 12 flights were diverted to Jaipur, two to Chandigarh and one to Lucknow. Other services were delayed and some were cancelled.

Flight-tracking data showed more than 280 delayed services and over 20 cancellations at IGIA, which handles more than 1,300 flight movements a day. Rain affected Delhi, while forecasts warned of thunderstorms, lightning and winds in parts of the city.

IndiGo said it was monitoring the weather’s effect on schedules. Air India said adverse conditions could affect flights to and from Delhi and asked passengers to confirm their flight status before leaving for the airport.

Passengers travelling on Monday should check directly with their airline for departure, arrival and gate updates, particularly for flights connecting through Delhi.
