Bandra police arrest SUV driver after rider dies in Bandra West crash

Shubham Prajapati, a 20-year-old delivery rider, died after an SUV allegedly struck his motorcycle in Bandra West while he was travelling to deliver a parcel.

Bandra police said the crash was reported to the control room at 10.38 pm. A patrolling team found Prajapati unconscious with a head injury, his grey motorcycle nearby and the SUV about 100 feet away. He was taken to Bhabha Hospital, where he died at 12.12 am on September 5.

Police arrested Yuvraj Baheti, 28, who they allege was driving the black SUV. He was produced before a Bandra court and later granted bail. Police impounded the SUV.

Police registered a case against Baheti under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act, alleging negligent, careless and reckless overtaking. An officer said Baheti was not found to be drunk and did not leave the scene after the collision.
