Mumbai: BCCI to decide Ajit Agarkar’s future within 15 days

Ajit Agarkar’s tenure as chief selector of India’s senior men’s cricket team has 15 days left, and the BCCI says it will decide his future before then.

Speaking after the board’s 95th Annual General Meeting in Mumbai, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said Agarkar’s position was not discussed at the meeting. “We still have 15 days to go,” Saikia said. “We will take a decision at an appropriate time.”

The board is also shortlisting applicants for a new junior selection committee. Saikia said the cricket committee, which will make the appointments, is expected to receive the shortlist within 10 to 15 days.

Among other decisions, the BCCI issued revised standard operating procedures on age fraud for all affiliated state units and discussed measures to support cricketers with disabilities through state associations.

The board will turn 100 in December 2028 and plans to begin a year-long centenary programme from December 2027. It is also considering celebrations for the IPL’s 20th edition in 2028, while the league’s governing council will review the Impact Player rule.
