A new pre-security zone at Terminal 1 brings check-in, baggage support and accessible seating together for passengers who need additional assistance.
Kempegowda International Airport has opened a Special Assistance Zone at Terminal 1 for passengers requiring additional support.
Passengers requiring additional support at Kempegowda International Airport can use a dedicated Special Assistance Zone before security screening at Terminal 1, Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) said.
The facility is accessible through Priority Gate 5A and brings check-in, baggage assistance and a waiting area into one space. It has two assistance desks staffed by airline partners and is designed for wheelchair users.
After a passenger reaches the desk, airport staff will collect baggage and take it to the baggage belt, removing the need for passengers to manage the baggage-drop process independently. The waiting area has 20 accessible seats with charging points. Accompanying family members and caregivers can use additional seating outside, while Flight Information Display System screens provide flight updates.
The zone is intended for persons with reduced mobility, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, pregnant women, unaccompanied minors and other travellers requiring special assistance.
BIAL said the facility adds to services including Mobility Assist, a sensory room for neurodivergent passengers, the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard programme, staff training and digital accessibility tools such as Social Story.
