
Kempegowda International Airport recorded its first domestic departure punctuality rate above 90% this year, with 93% of flights leaving on time in July.
The July departure rate rose from 89% in May, while arrival punctuality improved to 88% from 86% in June. Air India led domestic carriers on departure punctuality at 96%, while SpiceJet recorded 41%.
Kempegowda International Airport recorded a 93% on-time rate for domestic departures in July, its first month above the 90% mark this year.
The figure improved from 89% in May. Domestic arrivals also ran more closely to schedule, with an 88% on-time rate in July, up from 86% in June.
Air India recorded the highest domestic departure punctuality among carriers serving Bengaluru, at 96% in July. Its rates were 86% in May and 97% in June. SpiceJet recorded a 41% departure on-time rate in July, after 16% in May and 18% in June. For arrivals, Air India recorded 94% punctuality and IndiGo 93%, while SpiceJet was at 6%.
Bangalore International Airport Limited said the lowest delay rate, 2%, was recorded between 3am and 8.59am. Delays were highest between 11pm and 2.59am, at 14%. The operator listed passenger and baggage handling, equipment failures, crew and operational factors, connecting passengers, baggage and cargo, and aircraft and cabin-crew rotations among the factors affecting schedules.
