Bengaluru draft voter roll set to list 56.11 lakh electors after SIR exercise

Bengaluru’s draft electoral roll will contain 56.11 lakh voters, down from an electorate of more than 1.03 crore, after the State’s Special Intensive Revision exercise.

The Chief Electoral Officer’s office is publishing the draft rolls on August 24. Across Karnataka, more than 1.07 crore voters — 19.48% of the electorate — have been classified as absent, shifted, duplicate, dead or others under the revision.

The notice phase, including hearings and the disposal of claims and objections, runs from August 24 to October 22. The CEO’s office has identified more than 20.35 lakh voters with logical discrepancies and another 23.45 lakh who could not map themselves to 2002 electoral-roll details; these voters will receive notices.

Residents seeking inclusion can use Form 6, overseas voters can use Form 6A, and requests for deletion or corrections can be filed through Forms 7 and 8. Claims and objections, including corrections to names and addresses, must be submitted by September 23.

The final electoral roll is scheduled for publication on October 27.
