Bengaluru police check 487 people listed as rowdies in overnight drive

Bengaluru City Police checked 487 people listed as rowdies during a special overnight drive across the city’s north, west, southwest and Electronics City divisions.

Anti-Rowdy Squads visited people at their addresses, with 162 checks in the west division, 137 in southwest Bengaluru, 121 in the north division and 67 in Electronics City. The operation covered police station limits including Bandepalya, Begur, Parappana Agrahara, Chandra Layout and Srirampura.

Police said the checks were intended to ensure those visited were not carrying firearms or other deadly weapons. Officers also directed people with ongoing court cases, including some who had missed proceedings, to attend their respective hearings.

The drive followed a murder in Madiwala last week that police suspect stemmed from an old rivalry and involved deadly weapons. Police warned those checked not to take part in unlawful activity.
